Bali has opened a new gateway for international travel with the launch of a new air service by Batik Air, connecting Canberra, ACT (Australia) and Denpasar. This significant development, which took place on 14 June 2024, is set to boost the tourism industry and provide a convenient travel option for both Australian and Indonesian travelers.
The new air service between Bali and Canberra is a testament to the growing travel demand and the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries. With this addition, Bali is now directly connected to nine Australian destinations, served by eight different air carriers, including Canberra, Sydney, Perth, Cairns, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Darwin.
Australia is currently the largest source of foreign visitors to Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport. January through May 2024 saw 453,272 Australians visit Bali.
During January – May 2024, Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport handled 9,183,764 arriving and departing passengers traveling on 56,627 flight movements.
ID-6014, the inaugural Batik Air flight from Canberra, landed on Friday, 14 June 2024, at 13:36 hours. It was an Airbus A320 with 124 passengers on board. The return flight ID-6015 departed Bali on Saturday, 15 June, at 22:10 hours.
The new service connecting Bali and Canberra will operate three times each week.
With the addition of the Bali-Canberra service, Bali is now connected to the world by 35 international flight routes operated by 38 carriers. Bali also serves 21 domestic airline routes flown by 11 domestic carriers.
