The Padma Musical Series opens its 2025 season with an enchanting night of opera in Legian on Saturday, March 01, 2025.
Featuring some of Indonesia’s leading classical vocal artists and musicians, the evening’s “Love and Misadventure” theme presents iconic numbers from across centuries of operatic artistry.
THE ARTISTS
Headlining the evening will be four Indonesian vocalists and two musicians:
Heny Janawati (Mezzo Soprano) is one of Indonesia’s leading professionally trained opera talents. Heny Janawati holds a degree in Opera Performance from the University of British Columbia. She has performed across Europe, North America, and Asia in roles ranging from Bizet’s Carmen to Ježibaba from the Opera Rusalka. Heny also works as a vocal coach and adjudicator. She is the founder of Janawati Academy and artistic director of the Surabaya Opera Academy.
Jeremiah Purwoto – (Tenor) Dating from early success with Indonesia’s renowned Batavia Madrigal Singers to earning an MA in Vocal Performance with distinction from the University of York, Jeremiah brings a wealth of experience gained from roles in opera and musical theater, as well as collaborations with international ensembles.
Ardelia Padma Sawitri – (Soprano) A versatile soprano celebrated for her vocal agility and warmth, Ardelia has performed across genres, from Baroque masterpieces to contemporary works. Holding a Master’s degree from Codarts Conservatorium in the Netherlands, she continues to make her mark in both Indonesia and abroad.
Kadek Ari Ananda Putra – (Baritone) A baritone classical singer from Surabaya of Balinese ancestry, Kadek began his musical journey in 2013 studying under Ega O. Azarya and Joseph Kristanto Pantioso. Kadek has performed with Ananda Sukarlan, the G20 Orchestra, and in operas like Gianni Schicchi, Le Nozze di Figaro, and Carmen. He has won numerous accolades, including 1st place in the Tembang Puitik Ananda Sukarlan Competition 2021.
Giovani Biga – (Violin) Recognised as a rising star on the international classical music scene, Giovani is a Summa Cum Laude graduate in Violin Performance from the Hochschule für Musik Detmold (Germany). He continues to sell out international performance venues. He serves as a concertmaster for major Indonesian orchestras and a laureate at prestigious international competitions.
Giovani Biga – (Pianist and Program Curator) A distinguished collaborative pianist, composer, and educator, Daniel holds a Master of Performance with distinction from the Royal College of Music, London. Accolades from international competitions and performances at prestigious venues include The National Gallery in London. Daniel’s expertise as an arranger and musician guarantees a masterfully curated experience.
An Evening to Remember
The program in Bali explores themes of love and misadventure, weaving narratives through a captivating blend of arias and ensembles intended to resonate with opera aficionados and newcomers alike.
The evening, curated by Daniel Adipradhana, promises technical brilliance that cultivates a profoundly emotional connection as the artists breathe life into timeless stories of passion, heartache, and joy. The February 01 performance represents a unique opportunity to witness some of Indonesia’s most celebrated classical talents and singers unite in a memorable and intimate musical experience.
THE PROGRAM
Exploring the theme of “Love and Misadventure,” before intermission, the ensemble will present “The Spark of Love and Desire” by introducing the early spark of love, flirtation, and longings of the heart. The mood is light-hearted and playful, with moments of tenderness and hope.

INTERMISSION
The program’s second half – “Passion, Betrayal, and Redemption,” delves into the darker side of love, betrayal, jealousy, and heartbreak. This segment concludes on a note of hope and reconciliation.
