Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport passed a milestone on 01 June 2024 when it celebrated the first anniversary since the inaugural landing of an Airbus A380-800 operated by Emirates Airlines.
On 01 June 2023, the first Emirate Airbus A380 to land in Indonesia made its historic touchdown at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport. This two-class superjumbo aircraft, configured to transport 525 passengers in Business and Economy Class, has a full-length double deck and a rated capacity in an alternate seating configuration to carry 853 passengers.
A fully loaded Airbus A380-800 needs a runway of 2,900 meters to take off. Carrying a full passenger load, the A380 can fly a range of over 15,000 km at an average speed of 0.85 Mach (about 900 km/h or 560 mph).
In its one year of service connecting Dubai and Bali, the Emirate Airbus A380 has carried 382,802 passengers to and from Bali.
Quoted in BeritaBali.com, the general manager of Bali’s airport, Handy Heryudhitiawan, said: “On 01 June 2023, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport became the first airport in Indonesia to serve Airbus A380-800 aircraft. We thank Emirates as the operator, ground handling, and all related agencies for this achievement.”
In its inaugural year, Emirates has catered to 382,802 passengers, with 193,911 arriving in Bali and 188,891 departing. This was made possible through 726 flight movements, a testament to the popularity and success of the Emirates Airbus A380 service.
The Emirates A380-800 Aircraft flies daily, leaving on the Dubai-Bali-Dubai route each afternoon.
Emirates remains “bullish on Bali,” hoping to add more passenger capacity.
