AEROFLOT – Russian Airlines has formally requested flight slots from Moscow to Denpasar, Indonesia, starting in September 2024.
The Telegram Channel and Interfax News Agency confirmed that Aeroflot’s desire to fly to Bali is pending approval by the Indonesian aviation regulatory authorities.
Pending Official Approval, AEROFLOT flying to Bali in September 2024.
The pre-flight application process has been a coordinated effort involving Aeroflot, the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Russian Transport Ministry, the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow, and the Russia-Indonesia Business Council.
During a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto said Indonesia welcomed plans for the possible launch of direct flights from Russia to Bali.
“We believe that Aeroflot can perform direct flights to Bali …We also support possible direct flights operated by both Aeroflot and other airlines,” Prabowo said.
The long-standing desire for direct flights between Moscow and Bali has been hampered by international restrictions imposed in 2022, threatening the possible seizure of foreign-made planes. The re-registration of planes from a foreign registry to a Russian aircraft registry has neutralized that threat.
Aeroflot reports that 185 of the 271 Boeing and Airbus planes in the Russian Airline’s possession are now “cleared” of foreign registration.
