Effective 22 March 2025, AirAsia Indonesia will fly three times weekly between Denpasar, Bali, and Darwin, Australia.
As quoted by the State News Agency Antara, Veranita Yosephine, the CEO of AirAsia, stated in a written press release: “Bali is now our largest hub in terms of flight capacity and passenger demand. We are seeing strong demand for travel routes to and from Bali, which remains a favorite for Australian tourists.”
AirAsia has made bookings and ticketing available on the new route effective Saturday, 22 March 2025.
AirAsia now operates an Asia-wide network flying between 130 destinations. The schedules for the new Darwin-Denpasar service will allow “fly-through flights” connectivity to Phuket, Thailand, permitting a same-day connection between Darwin-Denpasar-Phuket.
Alternatively, passengers traveling from Darwin could choose to holiday for several days in Bali before continuing to 130 other AirAsia Destinations such as Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Labuan Bajo (Komodo), Singapore, and Phuket.
Commenting on the new AirAsia flight service, Bagus Hendraning Kobarsih, the Consul-General for Indonesia based in Australia’s Northern Territory, said the new air connectivity will increase tourism flows in both directions, strengthen people-to-people relationships, and eventually create new business opportunities between Indonesia and Australia’s Northern Territory.
The thrice-weekly flight service will add 1,000 additional air seats each week in each direction between Darwin and Denpasar.
Australia represents a key source market for Indonesian tourism.
Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport currently serves 40 daily flights from nine Australian cities to the Indonesian holiday island.
