NusaBali.com reports that Bali’s Immigration Department is sparing no effort in accelerating the processing of inbound international travelers, pledging to speed arriving passengers traveling through Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport in no more than 20 minutes.
The Director-General of Immigration, Silmy Karim, said: “In terms of equipment at the immigration office for Ngurah Rai Airport, we will renew and upgrade equipment such as auto gates and take other steps to ease the border crossing process.” Immigration officials aim to ensure arriving passengers complete arrival processing in 20 minutes or less.
Karim said, “I am always monitoring the queues at Ngurah Rai.”
Tourism observers underline the need for enhanced immigration service at Bali’s airport in light of news that plans are in place to welcome more A380 Airbus Jumbo Jets to Bali. Bali currently has one A380 service operated daily by Emirate Airways.
Silmy also reported increased numbers of arriving international passengers at Bali’s airport. In recent weeks, the number of arriving passengers on a single day has reached 19,000 compared to 17,00 daily passengers in the pre-pandemic period.
Meanwhile, in Bali’s northern regency of Buleleng, steps underway by immigration will soon see the Singaraja Immigration Office upgraded to a “Class 1” facility. At the same time, the Singaraja Immigration Office is undergoing a major rebuilding.
The Singaraja Immigration Office serves three regencies of Bali: Buleleng, Jembrana, and Karangasem.
