Bali Airport has 80 Abandoned Motorcycles.

Kompas.com reports “tens” of motorcycles have been abandoned and parked for years on level II of Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport Parking Garage.

The motorcycles with out-of-date police registrations and covered in dust have been left unclaimed in the parking facility.

The Stakeholder Relations Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I – the State-owned Company that manages Bali’s Airport, Taufan Yudhistira, said on Friday, 25 June 2021: “There are some (motorcycles) that have been there for years and are covered in dust. There are around 80 units.” Taufan complained that the abandoned vehicles negatively impact the number of parking spaces available in the parking garage.

Angkasa Pura I has reported the situation and the details of the abandoned motorcycles to the Airport Police Precinct. “We routinely report the abandoned bikes to the Airport Police. In this way, whenever the is a report to the police anywhere regarding a missing motorcycle, the police can coordinate the onward handling of the case,” Taufan explained.

Taufan urged members of the public who have lost a motorcycle or rented a bike that has not been returned to contact the Police Precinct at the airport, bringing the bike’s registration (STNK) and title (BPKB). The Airport spokesperson added that there is also one automobile abandoned at Bali’s airport.

To reclaim their vehicles, in addition to bringing an STNK and BPKB, owners will also need to settle outstanding parking fees for the period the bikes were left at the airport. This amount is calculated at Rp. 4,000 for the first 12-hour and Rp. 2,000 per hour for each succeeding hour. After 24-hours, the cycle repeats each day.

Automobiles parked at Bali’s airport pay Rp. 10,000 for the first hour and Rp. 5,000 for each additional hour up to 24 hours. Each day, the tariff returns to the original formula for the next 24 hours.
