After only two months in operation, passenger demand for the air route connecting Australia’s capital city of Canberra and Bali is lacking. As a result, the Indonesian Lion Air Group Subsidiary Batik Air has reduced its thrice-weekly flight service to just twice a week.
Batik Air – the Lion Air subsidiary – is the only airline offering direct flights between Canberra and Bali.
The new service was launched on 14 June 2024, initially operating on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Beginning mid-August 2024, the flight service was cut to only twice a week, eliminating the Wednesday service.

The service is operated with a Boeing B737-800 aircraft configured with 162 paying seats.
Only one airline other than Batik Air flies internationally to Canberra; Fiji Airways began flying between Nadi and Canberra in June 2023.

Batik Air purportedly reserves the opportunity to operate the Bali – Canberra route again thrice weekly during peak season.
