Bali Mandara Toll Closes for 32 Hours During Nyepi

PT Jasamarga Bali Yol (JBT) – the operator of the Bali Mandara Toll Road connecting Sanur – Ngurah Rai Airport – Nusa Dua, has announced that the toll road will be closed for 32 hours during the “Nyepi” Day of Silence Nyepi Tahun Caka 1947, which commences on 29 March 2025.

As reported by Kompas.com, JBT will shut down and temporarily close, starting from 11:00 pm on Friday, 28 March 2025, and remain closed until the road reopens at 7:00 am on Sunday, 30 March 2025.

The Finance Director of PT Jasamarga Bali Tol, I Wayan Eka Saputra, said the closure of Bali’s only toll road was being done out of respect to the Island’s majority Bali Hindu population paying reverence to the silence that marks the start of the Bali Hindu New Year and local regulations mandating absolute silence during the Nyepi period.

Although the toll road will be closed for 36 hours, the road will remain available to emergency vehicles such as fire trucks, ambulances, and other critical vehicles. According to the rules, emergency vehicles will need to be accompanied by local enforcement officers (pecalang).
