Bali Now has FAA-Certifed Aircraft Maintenance

The newly opened Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility operated by FL Technics Indonesia at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport has been awarded official certification by the US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA).

The President Director of FL Technics Indonesia, Martynas Grigas, proclaimed on Tuesday, 10 December 2024, that the FAA Certification represents an important milestone in the Bali MRO hub’s development. Adding: “With FAA certification, we are better able to serve more international aircraft, including Boeing 737 (Classic and NG) and Airbus A320 (CEO and NEO); this reflects our commitment to provide international standard quality service.”

Grigas said the 17,000 square meter FL Technics Indonesia’s hanggar is the largest in Bali and is equipped with the latest technology.

As reported by Kompas.com, FL Technics Indonesia’s range of services includes line maintenance, base maintenance, heavy maintenance, and international logistical support. The MRO hub also provides 24/7 Aircraft-on-ground (AOG) support that helps to eliminate “downtime” resulting from unexpected or unscheduled technical repairs.

Grigas explained that in keeping with the future vision of becoming an MRO strategic hub for the Asia-Pacific and Australia, FL Technics Indonesia is in the process of securing additional certification in 2025 from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

Previously, FAA Consultant for FL Technics Indonesia, Michael E. Daniel, Managing Director of Aviation Insight Pte Ltd, revealed that the MRO market in Indonesia has great potential.

“More than 50 percent of all aircraft repairs are still carried out overseas. This shows the great potential of the aircraft maintenance market in Indonesia and motivates us to continue to expand and improve MRO services to support passenger safety and the growth of the aviation industry in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Michael.

FL Technics Indonesia is now an FAA Part-145 certified subsidiary of FL Technics. FL Technics is a global integrated aircraft MRO service provider and a member of the Avia Solutions Group.
