During the current Emergency Limitations on Public Movement (PPKM-Darurat) to remain in effect until 20 July 2021, street lights on public streets are being turned off at 8:00 pm to discourage public movement and reduce the spread of COVID-19.
The Provincial Secretary for Bali, Dewa Made Indra, reported that Bali’s Governor, members of the Communications Forum for Regional Leadership (Forkompinda), the military commander in Bali, the chief prosecutor, and the Regents and Mayor from across Bali – met together in a PPKM-Darurat evaluation session on Wednesday, 07 July 2021.
As reported by NusaBali.com, Indra revealed that during the 2.5-hour meeting, a range of points was mutually agreed, including:
- Lights at tourism destinations, public places, and public places will be turned off at 8:00 pm.
- Public activities, already limited under PPKM-Darurat, should all cease at 8:00 pm.
- All public restaurants, bars, cafes, kiosks (kaki lima), snack stands, and similar operations should not serve the walk-in public during the duration of the PPKM-Darurat until 20 July 2021.
- Food and beverage establishments may, however, do delivery and take away business but only until 8:00 pm.
- Traditional and religious ceremonies during PPKM-Darurat should be postponed until after 20 July 2021.
- Traditional and religious ceremonies that cannot be postponed can operate under strict rules on a maximum number of participants, physical distancing, and timing – all intended to respect health protocols.
- WiFi services provided by the Provincial Government of Bali, Regencies, or the Municipality should end at 8:00 pm.
Indra concluded, saying: “So, I ask for the support of every sector of the Indonesian public to help suppress COVID-19 in the Province of Bali to the lowest level. This should be done until the health and safety of the Balinese people can be safeguarded and in the future, the economy can be returned to good health.”
