Denpasar, Bali Karaoke Bar Raided & Closed

The Denpasar Government in Bali is cracking down on nightspots that do not follow the rules on social distancing and 9:00 pm closing times.

Beritabali.com reports that The Denpasar Enforcement Agency (Satpol PP Kota Denpasar) raided and locked the doors of the Karaoke Royal Palace on Jalan Diponegoro in West Denpasar on Monday night, 15 June 2020.

The Chief of Satpol PP Kota Denpasar, Dewa Sayoga, said the raid took place at 11:00 pm – 2 hours after the mandated closing time of 9:00 pm after receiving complaints from the public. Adding, “We took action based on an online report of a violation of the Mayor’s Regulation No. 32 of 2020 on limiting public movement.”

Also responding to a public complaint, Satpol PP Officers checked Café Jegeg located on the Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai in Denpasar only to find the established long closed and empty.

The raiding party then proceeded to the Karaoke Royal Palace in West Denpasar, where they found the business was open two-hours after the business curfew and, what’s more, held no valid operating license.

Sayoga said the business would be formally reprimanded for violating the 9:00 pm closing time and for lacking proper permits and licenses.
