Crimes committed by foreign nationals in Bali are on the rise. Not only are crimes committed by foreign nationals increasing, but the variety of offenses committed by foreign visitors is also expanding.
A case in point is the arrest of Amaury Mi Poudou (29), who now sits in a Nusa Penida, Bali jail cell, for trying to sell a motorcycle he allegedly stole from a Balinese man.

Poudou, also known as Amaury, was caught trying to sell a stolen Honda Scoopy Motorcycle at a local repair shop on Sunday, 26 January 2025.
As reported by RadarBali.com, Amaury was caught trying to sell the stolen motorcycle for Rp. 10 million – a price quickly negotiated down to just Rp. 1 million.
The potential purchaser became suspicious that everything was not right with the proposed purchase. On closer examination of the motorcycle, identity documents belonging to the actual owner were found concealed in the seat compartment of the vehicle.
The repair shop owner eventually declined the purchase, suggesting the Frenchman try selling the bike at the Banjar Nyuh Port on Nusa Penida.
The repair shop owner then contacted his friend, Wayan Sulastra, who in turn contacted Sarman, the man identified in the identity papers concealed on the motorcycle as the actual owner.

After a short pursuit, Sarman and his children waited at the designated address. They managed to apprehend the Frenchman with the stolen motorcycle before handing the thief over to the Nusa Penida Police Precinct.
The Frenchman is awaiting arraignment and trial for stealing and trying to fence the motorcycle.
