Garuda Flies JKT Halim Airport to DPS

According to Kompas.com, Garuda Indonesia is renewing flight services from Jakarta’s “old” secondary Halim Perdanakusuma Airport to three new destinations: Bali, Balikpapan, and Singapore.

The CEO of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, said the new services are being operated in response to requests from the public for new flights from Halim Airport, which is closer to Jakarta’s city center than the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport located in Tangerang, West Java.

Garuda Resumes Flight from Jakarta’s Halim Airport

Setiaputra’s comments were made on Friday, 01 November 2024, at the inauguration of a new flight service from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.

Setiaputra shared that Garuda Indonesia has undertaken extensive research on developing trends in passenger flight demands. Based on the research, it was discovered that there is a pronounced demand for taking flights from airports located close to home.

Because of this trend, Garuda Indonesia supplemented its flights departing the Soekarno-Hatta Airport with additional departures from Halim Perdanakasuma Airport in eastern Jakarta. The return of Garuda Indonesia to Halim Airport is after an absence of many years.

“Garuda flew from Halim for a long time, and then a decision was made to close and move all flights to Tangerang (Soekarno-Hatta). But because many people asked for flights from Halim, we reopened flight operations there,” said Irfan.

Garuda Indonesia now has flights from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport to Surabaya, Medan, and Padang. Flights are expected to soon be added to Bali.

The resumption of Garuda Indonesia flights from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport commenced with an inaugural flight to Surabaya (GA 330) on 01 November using an Airbus 330 Aircraft carrying 157 passengers.
