The Padma Musical Series has a well-established reputation for bringing internationally-renowned musical performers to Bali. The next installment in this proud musical tradition will be the appearance of pianist George Harliono on Thursday, 01 June 2023.
Born in the U.K. of mixed Indonesian-British parentage, Classic-FM dubbed George a “rising star.” Although only 22 years old, George Harliono is already an international superstar on the classical music stage. In the decade since his concert debut at age 12, Geroge has performed with orchestras that include The Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, The Mariinsky Orchestra, Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra, New Millennium Orchestra of Chicago, Frankfurter Opern- und Museumsorchester, Tyumen Philharmonic Orchestra, and Sendai Philarmonic Orchestra. George also regularly performs alongside eminent artists such as Denis Matsuev and has worked with many renowned conductors, including Valery Gergiev, Alexander Sladkovsky, Evgeny Shestakov, Ainars Rubikis, Anton Lubchenko, Ken Takaseki, and Sebastian Weigle.
George has been awarded prizes in numerous competitions worldwide, including The Grand Piano Competition in Moscow, Sendai International Music Competition, Royal Overseas League Music Competition in London, Gina Bachauer Piano Competition in Utah, Concourse International de Lagny-sur-Marne, and Dinu Lipatti Piano Competition in Bucharest.
In 2013, he was invited to record Beethoven’s Piano Sonata Op.2 No.1 at the Southbank Centre in London. In 2016, his performance of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No.1 at the Great Hall of The Moscow Conservatory was broadcast live on Russian national TV and streamed live on Medici TV.
George Harliono’s appearance in Bali has been in preparation for three years. The Bali solo piano recital is made possible via cooperation with The Jakarta Concert Orchestra under Avip Priatna, with whom George Harliono will appear on 11 June, following his Bali appearance.
