After only six months in command at The Ritz-Carlton, Bali, commencing in December 2023, Subin Sharman has moved on to another Marriott Hotels affiliate in Bali – W Seminyak.
Replacing Sharman in the top job at The Ritz-Carlton, Bali is Japanese national, Go Kondo. With over 25 years of wide-ranging experience in luxury hospitality working in the Asia Pacific and the Middle East, Go Kondo’s latest appointment is his second assignment at his second Ritz-Carlton in Bali.
Kondo’s career began as a management trainee working in Food and Beverage operations. He quickly climbed the corporate ladder in operations and senior management roles. He has Extensive Operations and Projects experience at the international brand hotel chain, including his present general manager’s role, several executive roles, food and beverage management, quality assurance, productivity management, and revenue and profit control management.
Kondo previously served as the General Manager of W Osaka, opening the first W Brand in Japan and earning numerous awards, including the Travel+Leisure Awards 2023 for “Best City Hotel” and “Best General Manager,” The World Luxury Hotel Awards 2023 for “Best Luxury Lifestyle Hotel Global, “Best Luxury Hotel Japan” and “Best Architectural Design East Asia.”
In addition to his day-to-day responsibilities as a hotel general manager in Japan, Go Kondo simultaneously chaired the Marriott Business Council for Japan and Guam. Kondo has hotel executive management experience in Japan, Australia, and Southeast Asia, as well as senior management experience in the Middle East. A Ritz-Carlton Brand veteran, Kondo has opened Ritz-Carlton properties in Kyoto, Doha, Osaka and Bali.
Commenting on his latest reassignment to Bali, Kondo said: “It is a pleasure to be back to The Ritz-Carlton brand and Bali where I served as Hotel Manager seven years ago.
