As reported by BeritaBali, the Bali Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP Bali), working with Customs and Excise Officials, has successfully thwarted the smuggling of 1 kilogram of hashish via Ngurah Rai International Airport.
In the process, officials have detained a 25-year-old Kazakhstani woman identified only by the initials VM. She is suspected of being linked to an international drug trafficking network.
The Head of BNNP Bali, Police Brigadier General Putu Putera Sadana, stated that the interdiction took place at the International Arrival Terminal on Tuesday, 04 August 2026.
”BNNP Bali, in cooperation with Ngurah Rai Customs, successfully intercepted a female passenger traveling from Bangkok to Denpasar, Bali,” he revealed on Wednesday, 12 August 2026.
In the course of inspecting VM’s checked luggage. officers discovered a black plastic package containing a substance suspected to be hashish.
”Upon weighing, the hashish was determined to weigh 1,079 grams,” said Sadana.
The package was concealed inside a suitcase containing women’s clothing and accessories.
Preliminary questioning revealed that VM was acting under the direction of a drug network based in Kazakhstan. “An examination of her communication devices revealed that the perpetrator was being directed by a woman in Kazakhstan, who instructed her to travel to Bali and hand over the suitcase to an unidentified individual,” he explained.
BNNP Bali has expanded the investigation by monitoring VM’s communications with the suspected handler in Kazakhstan. The Bali Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) enforcement team also profiled the individual identified as the “controller.” According to VM, this controller currently resides in Bali.
However, a check of border-crossing records revealed that the individual identified as “the controller” had left Indonesia in 2020.
The Bali BNNP noted that hashish is a Class I narcotic.
VM and the seized evidence were taken to the Bali Provincial BNN Office for questioning and further legal proceedings.
