3 Hour Drive for a 1.5 Hour Flight
Bandung, West Java’s Airport Once Minutes Away is Now a 3-hour Drive
The low-cost airline Indonesian airline AirAsia has moved it domestic flight base in the West Java's capital of Bandung from the Husein Sastranegara Airport to the new Kertajati International Airport in Majalengka.
The “move” took effect on June 30, 2019 following instructions received from the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation.
The relocation means that flight AirAsia flights QZ720 leaving Bandung daily at 7:10 am and landing in Bali at 8:00 am local time and QZ721 leaving daily at 8:25 am and landing in Bali at 11:15 am local time will not depart from Bandung’s new airport.
While Husein Sastranegara Airport was only a few minutes’ drive from Central Bandung, the newly inaugurated Kertajati International Airport requires a one-way drive of 2.5-3 hours from Bandung.
As reported by Kompas.com, AirAsia is aware of the possible inconvenience represented by the airport relocation and offered passengers holding tickets the chance to rebook on alternate flights, refund, or a book a new destination served by AirAsia.
