Breaking News: Two Reported Dead in Bali Boat Mishap

Brazilian and South African Die When Speedboat Capsizes at Devil’s Tear, Nusa Lembongan, Bali

Two foreign tourist Bali are reported dead following a speedboat mishap on Monday, September 16, 2019, at Devil’s Tear at Nusa Lembongan – an island located 12-kilometers from Bali’s southeast shore.

Reports from Kompas,com, state that a woman Caval Heir O Biron (48) from Brazil and a South African man Victor Johannes Allers (43) lost their lives in the waters off Nusa Lembongan when the speedboat in which they were passengers capsized.

At approximately 9:00 am on Monday morning the Nagasima-Go Speedboat departed from Jungutbatu Beach at Nusa Lembongan with the two tourists who had purchased an excursion to explore the shores of Nusa Lembongan.  At 10:15 am the boat arrive opposite Devil’s Tear – arguably the most famous and picturesque promontory on Nusa Lembongan. While taking in the view, the boat was struck by a large 3-meter wave that capsized the vessel, sending the Indonesian Captain and his two passengers into the ocean waves.

The Captain, Suadak (35), who hails from East Java, managed to swim to safety on shore. However, the Brazilian woman and the South African man were both recovered from the sea a short while later in an unconscious state by boats operating nearby. The Captain is undergoing treatment at the East Medical Care Clinic in Lembongan.

The bodies of the two foreign tourists, pronounced dead at the scene, were removed to the Nusa Penida II Health Center.
