Breaking Through The Senses – “Menembus Rasa”

Painting Exhibition by Made Mahendra Mangku and Nur Ilham at Santrian Art Gallery in Sanur, Bali through December 31, 2019

Two Indonesian artists collaborate in the current watercolor painting exhibition themed “Breaking through the Senses” (Menembus Rasa) at Santrian Art Gallery, Griya Santrian Resort & Spa, Jl. Danau Tamblingan 47, Sanur.

Open daily from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm through the end of 2019, the exhibition of paintings by Nur Ilham and Mahendra Mangku offers an artistic contrast that may at first seem contradictory, as one artist is a realist while the other one is an abstract artist. Although seen from the first impression as contradictory, the artists are actually similar in a number of aspects. Through the appreciation of art, both believe that without the harmony of ideas, philosophies, skills, and taste - the artistic process will fail to produce optimal results.

The similarities revealed in two different approaches to artistic expression also reveal the raison d'etre of each artist’s work which is the effort to champion an unusual idea, going beyond boundaries to explore the possibilities resulting from the melt of color absorbed slowly by paper, to – in accordance with the proclaimed theme of the current exhibition achieve a “breakthrough the senses”.

The exhibition is curated by Wayan Seriyoga Parta.
