Peruvian Tourist Captured with Nearly 1 kilograms of Cocaine at Bali Airport
NusaBali reports that Peruvian Guido Torres Morales (55) was arrested by Customs Officials at Bali’s Airport on Wednesday afternoon, June 26, 2019 at 4:00 pm with 950 grams of cocaine concealed in his alimentary tract.
At the time of his arrest, Morales had just landed off Emirate Airlines flight EK450 from Dubai.
Customs officials say that the 950 grams of the toxic narcotic were retrieved at a local hospital after being eliminated in 125 separate plastic capsules.
The head of the Ngurah Rai Airport Customs Office, Himawan Indarjono, said Guido Torres Morales landed in Bali was spotted for suspicious behavior and subjected to an X-ray examination.
The man and the evidence were handed to Bali Police where so he can be charged with narcotics crimes carrying a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 10 billion.
The street value of cocaine recovered from Morales’ intestines has a street value of Rp. 2.3 billion and could have been rendered into 4,750 illicit transactions.
Although Morales insists he was operating only as a courier, he was unable or unwilling to provide details on the recipient of the intended illicit narcotics in Bali.
