Safety with a Smile

Garuda Introduces Revolutionary New In-flight Safety Announcement.

In a refreshingly new take on communicating critical passenger safety information to its passengers, Garuda Indonesia launched a very creative pre-flight video that manages to simultaneously communicate Country’s natural beauty, its diverse culture, and the things passengers need to know before they fly.

Adopting the theme “The Beauty of Indonesia” the film magically seamlessly eliminates the natural boundaries between the aircraft environment and the Indonesian archipelago. In one segment of the film, a group of attractive Indonesian women are weaving traditional textiles on looms somewhat incongruously installed in the passenger area of the aircraft. Sounds strange, perhaps, but it works.

Beautifully produced, the films shares information on seat belts, oxygen in the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, emergency exits, and other safety details while taking passengers on a whirlwind tour of West Sumatra, Labuan Bajo (West Flores), Bali’s Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, Tanah Toraja in Sulawesi, Raja Empat Islands, Sumba, and the Mount Bromo Volcano.

Garuda Indonesia’s New Safety Video Launch was held in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 31, 2019. With a duration of 4 minutes and 30 seconds, Garuda’s senior management said the video seeks to help the Ministry of Tourism promote the “10 New Bali’s”.

The video also showcases a number of sponsored messages from consumer products, including a Mini Cooper Countryman 4WD, a Renault Twizy electric car, and a BMW R 1250 GS Adventure motorcycle.
