Pertamina Imposes ‘Odd-Even’ Fuel Purchasing Scheme and Fuel Rationing for Bali

Pertamina Imposes Odd-Even Days for Buying Fuel in Bali. Rationing Limits Now in Effect.

Tribune-Bali reports that  Pertamina Patra Niaga – the fuel distribution company for East Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara (Jatimbalinus) has voiced full support for the Governor of Bali’s plans to implement an “odd-even” policy for refueling “Pertalite” (gasoline) in Bali, effective from Saturday, 17 October 2026.

The Governor’s directive is published in the circular memorandum/directive number B.21.500.1/16673/V/DISNAKER.ESDM.

Odd-Even = Ganjil-Genap

The odd-even refueling policy applies to both four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles in all areas of the Province of Bali. The Indonesian term for “odd-even” is “Ganjil-Genap” and means:

Pertamina Patra Niaga has also agreed to set maximum refueling limits:

Stipulations Applying to Emergency Vehicles and Goods Trucks

Ahad Rahedi, Area Manager for Communication, Relations & CSR at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (Jatimbalinus Region), explained that the Governor’s directive also prioritizes ambulances and fire trucks for refueling at gas stations (SPBU). The directive also stipulates that trucks can refuel at gas stations only at night.

24-Hour Gas Stations Remain in Operation

This odd-even refueling policy and gas-rationing limits are intended to help ease queues at gas stations across Bali. Meanwhile, 66 gas stations will remain operational 24 hours a day—42 in Denpasar City and 24 in Badung Regency—to ensure continued service.

Police and Military Support Roles

“We have also received support from 100 personnel of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) from the IX/Udayana Military Command to serve as gas station operators during the night, as well as the provision of escort services from the Bali Regional Police to ensure the smooth distribution of fuel tanker trucks to gas stations. This is intended to accelerate the restoration of fuel services in Bali by strengthening supplies, extending gas station operating hours, and enhancing the readiness of both our fleet and personnel,” said Ahad.

Pertamina urges the public to remain calm and buy only the amount of fuel they need.

Pertamina Call Center

The public is asked to report any problems they encounter with the new policy or to see additional information regarding Pertamina’s services by dialing the Pertamina Contact Center at 135.
