The Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, Tjok Bagus Pemayun, has emphasized that beaches in Bali belong to the public and should not be controlled by any party, including hotels, beach clubs, or other tourism businesses.
There are a growing number of cases in Bali’s southernmost regency of Badung, where access to popular beachfronts has been limited by local hotel management. As reported by Beritabali.com, examples exist in Nusa Dua and Kuta, where the public was not allowed to enter certain beach areas.
While access to the beaches has now been restored, Tjok Bagus Pemayun, speaking on Tuesday, 04 March 2025, re-emphasized that the rules regarding beach ownership are clear and cannot be challenged.
Pemayun added that the government will continue to ensure that everyone’s access to the beach remains open. He insists that the braces can not be reserved exclusively for specific business interests but must remain open to the entire community.
