Russian Woman Dies on East Bali Highway

Irina Belkina (30), a Russian female tourist traveling on a rented motorcycle on the Klungkung – Denpasar highway along Bali’s East Coast, lost her life in a motorcycle mishap at dusk on Saturday, 01 February 2024.

As reported by Beritabali.com, quoting the head of the traffic police in Klungkung, AKP Untung Laksono, the fatal accident involved a truck and a motorcycle that collided in front of Pura Goa Lawah, Bali’s iconic Bat Temple, in the Dawan Region of Klungkung Regency, Bali.

The Russian woman was driving a motorcycle from west to east headed toward Klungkung when it collided with a truck driven by I Kadek Adi (21). 

Evidence at the scene and eyewitnesses suggest that Irina Belkina had veered into the southbound lane, driving head-on into the truck driven by the young Balinese man.

As a result of the collision, the Russian suffered severe injuries to her head, left eye socket, mouth, and left and right arms, rendering her unconscious on the roadway. The woman was rushed to the Klungkung General Hospital, where she was declared dead in the course of receiving emergency treatment.

The truck driver suffered bruising and a wound to his left hand.
