Due to popular demand following the triumphal return of Bali Celebrity Chef Chris Salans to The Legian Seminyak, Bali celebrating the luxury hotel’s 25th Anniversary 27-29 August, Ubud’s Mozaic Restaurant Founder returns September 10 – 12, 2021, for another gastronomic weekend.
The Legian Seminyak will again present truly memorable meals over the three-day weekend period. Bali’s legendary Chris Salans will return to demonstrate why his Ubud restaurant is ranked among the world’s best and why its founder-chef was recently appointed to the prestigious Association des Maîtres Cuisiniers de France and also named a chevalier of France’s Légion d’honneur.
Whenever Chris Salans returns to cook at The Legian, his memory fondly returns to the locale where he commenced his remarkable 25-year career in Bali as a young executive chef at the equally remarkable beachside hotel.
A published author of award-winning cookery books, Chris’ unique personal history magically intermingles the culinary traditions of the New World – his place of birth; the gastronomical eloquence of France – bestowed via formal training as a young chef in the homeland of his Mother; and professional expertise acquired in France and New York guided by the world’s leading chefs.
Spending more than 25 years in Bali has left Salans with a passion for Asian cuisine and the rich array of natural ingredients found in the region. The results of this eager embrace of Asian ingredients and the French cooking style are dishes unlike those found anywhere else.
Admired both in Indonesia and internationally, Chris has served as a judge on Top Chef Indonesia and Iron Chef Indonesia. His impressive resume also includes a stint as consultant chef to the national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia. Befitting a legendary celebrity chef, Chirs Salans is instantly recognizable among Asia’s growing circle of “foodies.”

Saturday, 11 September – Saturday ad hoc with Chris Salans
The evening’s title of “ad hoc” echoes “for this purpose” – the original purpose that inspired the establishment of The Restaurant a quarter-century ago. The purpose remains unchanged – creating and curating fresh and delicious food for guests based on only the finest ingredients in Bali’s traditional markets.
Chris Salans and his talented culinary team will lovingly fashion each course-by-course accompanied with curated wine selections presented by Head Sommelier Suartika.
Saturday ad hoc features live jazz performance to add, in an ad hoc manner – of course, to the merriment of the evening.
As it did the previous evening, conviviality commences with expertly crafted cocktails, wines, and Champagne accompanied by canapés starting from 4:00 pm at The Champagne Bar.
Dinner is served from 5:30 until 9:00 pm in The Restaurant with a choice of à la carte or a set menu.
