CNN in Jakarta and Kompas.com report that Starlux Airlines will commence flying between
Jakarta and Taipei, Taiwan, in September 2024.
In a formal press release from Starlux Airline, the cost of a Taipei-Jakarta one-way economy airfare will be priced from 6,073 New Taiwan Dollars (Rp. 3.04 million).
Widely regarded as a luxuriously appointed airline, Starlux’s interiors include leather-upholstered headrests and elaborate entertainment featuring high-resolution screens.
Screens in Business Class seating are twice as large as those provided in economy class.
Starlux crews don distinctive uniforms designed by renowned fashion designer Sean Yin. The uniforms are a unique blend of “retro-futuristic” styles reminiscent of the 1940s and 1950s.
Starlux Airlines was named Taiwan’s leading “Boutique Carrier” in 2020.
Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism and the Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, welcomes plans for the Taiwanese airline with a reputation for luxury to fly to Jakarta.
Sandiaga said the Starlux Airline Service Jakarta service is in response to the high demand for luxury travel. The Minister said that this luxurious flight service has its own market. The Indonesian tourism minister estimates that 20% of all travelers fall into the luxury category
