Vietnam Airlines has announced a new route connecting Ho Chi Minh and Denpasar, Bali, beginning in June 2025.
The new flight will operate four times weekly, flying on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
The new service will increase to 14 weekly flights between Vietnam, Jakarta, and Bali. Indonesia.
The General Manager of Vietnam Airlines in Indonesia, Tran Tuan Nghia, describes the new Ho Chi Minh – Denpasar route as part of the Airline’s strategy to enlarge its international route network in 2025.

“In the Indonesian market, starting in June 2025, we will open direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Denpasar, the colorful capital of the famous tourist paradise of Bali,” said Tran Tuan Nghia, quoted by Kompas.com, speaking at the announcement ceremony for the new route at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Jakarta, on Sunday, 09 March 2025.
The new route will be flown using a Vietnam Airline A321 aircraft.
Tran Tuan Nghia continued, saying the opening of the new flight route is expected to contribute to the expansion of Vietnam’s maritime borders by increasing trade relations and promoting Vietnamese culture and society in the international market.
He reflected on Vietnam Airlines’ 30-year history since its establishment in 1995: “The opening of this new route not only provides new choices for tourists but also facilitates the strengthening of economic, cultural, and social relations between the two countries. This step will enhance Vietnam Airlines’ position in the flight network connecting famous Southeast Asian destinations.”

As part of the opening of this new route, Vietnam Airlines also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ASTINDO – the Association of Indonesian Travel Agents. The agreement covers cooperative measures in tourism development between Vietnam and Indonesia to promote two-way tourism. “This cooperation includes promotional activities, marketing, and development of flight products and services,” explained Tran Tuan Nghia.

Recently, the number of Indonesian tourists visiting Vietnam and Vietnamese tourists visiting Indonesia has increased rapidly. The opening of the new route is expected to increase the flow of tourists between the two countries and positively contribute to the development of bilateral tourism and trade between Vietnam and Indonesia. With many similarities in the maritime economy potential and rich culture, Vietnam and Indonesia have great opportunities to strengthen cooperation in the tourism sector.
The goal is to attract more international tourists, promote people-to-people exchanges, strengthen bilateral relations, and build sustainable cooperation. With the opening of this new route, Vietnam Airlines is optimistic that it can increase its competitiveness in the Southeast Asia region, contribute to the development of the aviation industry, and strengthen economic and cultural relations between the two countries.
“The operation of Vietnam Airlines to Denpasar, the second destination in Indonesia, in the framework of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Indonesia, is expected to bring many prospects for future cooperation, especially in the tourism sector,” said Tran Tuan Nghia.
