For the third Saturday in a row, on Saturday, 21 September, Bali was shaken by an earthquake.
The most recent event, on 21 September 2024, was a 4.8 M earthquake with an epicenter on Jalan Selukat in Medehan, Blahbatuh, Gianyar Regency. The earthquake struck at a depth of 21 kilometers and was felt across a wide area, including Bali’s capital, Denpasar, Badung Regency, Tabanan, Karangasem, and Bangli.
No injuries or fatalities have been associated with the seismic event, but reports of structural damage were recorded across various areas of Gianyar Regency.
Data reported by RadarBali.com from the Natural Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) in Gianyar reports:
- Fallen roofing tiles at SDN 2 Grade School in Keramas, Blahbatuh.
- A fallen wall at the Puri Blahbatuh Temple.
- An offering altar (Padmasana) at Pura Puseh Abianbase was damaged and fell.
- Several Pura Gunung Jimbar Beng Temple complex buildings have been damaged and collapsed.
- The Candi Bentar Pura Dales Gede in Bon Biu Village at Blahbatuh was damaged and fell.
- The home of Dewa Gede Rai in the Village of Manukaya, Tampaksiring, was damaged,
- The SMP 3 Junior Hight Shcool in Ubud suffered light damage,
- The SD 5 Bedulu Grade School in Balhbatuh, Gianyar, suffered light damage.
- The Pura Dalem Suwat Temple in the Village of Suwat suffered light damage.
- The SD 2 Grade School in Sayan suffered light damage.
Gusti Ngurah Dibya Presasta, the head of Emergency Services and logistics for BPBD Gianyar, confirmed the list of property damage in his regency, saying he had yet to receive reports of people suffering injuries or fatalities.
The head of the Blahbatuh Police Precinct, I Made Berata, confirmed his officers were cooperating with various divisions of the Bali Police to maintain public orders and help survey the extent of any damage caused by the earthquake.

A 4.9 M earthquake with an epicenter northeast of Gianyar at a depth of 10 kilometers. This seismic event was felt in Gianyar, Tabanan, Badung Regency, Denpasar, Klungkung Mataram (Lombok), East Lombok, Central Lombok, and West Lombok.
