The Bali Safari Park celebrated a “soft” reopening on Thursday, 23 July 2020, by hosting a happy gathering of travel agents for a tour of the Park and lunch at the Tsavo Restaurant.
The reopening, with a restricted number of visitors following strict health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19, comes after a rigorous certification process conducted by officials from the Regency of Gianyar.
Inspectors conducting the survey were so impressed with the professional implementation of health and safety protocols that The Bali Safari and Marine Park was rewarded by becoming the first tourism object reopened to visitors in a ceremony officiated over by Bali Governor I Wayan Koster.
At the same time, Bali Safari and Marine Park became the template for other attractions and destinations in Indonesia waiting to reopen in the “new normal.”
Quoted by the State News Agency Antara, Thomas Colbert, general manager, Bali Safari & Marine Park, confirmed the reopening to the press, albeit initially with a limited number of domestic visitors. He said the Park chose to mark the occasion by inviting travel agents and business associates to join the happy occasion to spread the word to the general public that health protocols are in place, and the Park is safe to receive visitors again.
Colbert shared with the press that strict health protocols in operation at Bali Safari Park include temperature checks upon arrival, a requirement to wear masks, physical distancing rules throughout the Park, and readily available washbasins and hand sanitation stations throughout the Park.
More than 80 travel agents attended the simple reopening celebration. Sinta, representing Mahayani Tour and Travel, said: “Presently, we focus on the local domestic and national markets, promoting heavily on all social media platforms. I am very optimistic about the potential to revive Bali tourism, especially with Bali Safari and Marine Park meeting the health protocols set by the Government. I don’t think visitors need to be afraid to visit here.”
Meanwhile, Ade Aditya, from Indo Jaya Wisataku, said: “We are accustomed to handling the overseas market, especially tourist visitors from India. The Indian travelers are waiting for the situation in India to improve. Indeed, the only hope at this time is the domestic market, but we are still blasting by email Bali Safari update information to them, it seems they also can’t wait to revisit Bali.”
Hotel operators attending the reopening tour pledged to promote the Park to their in-house guests.
In an unprecedented offer, Bali Safari and Marine Park is celebrating its reopening with online prices for Indonesian Identity Cardholders (KTP) starting from Rp. 120,000 for adults and Rp. 95,000 for children.
