Bali Hosts Regatta Yachting Event

As many as 50 luxury yachts from 11 nations recently visited Bali’s southernmost Port of Benoa, participating in the “Sail to Indonesia Goes to BMTH” held on 02-04 October 2024.

The CEO of PT Pelindo Logistik (SPSL), Joko Noerhudha, shared on Friday, 04 October 2024, that the yachting event, centered at Bali’s Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH) in Benoa Harbor, is expected to significantly boost the development of Indonesian tourism, bringing a wave of optimism to the industry.

As the State News Agency Antara reported, the “Sail to Indonesia Goes to BMTH” seeks the cooperation of yacht clubs, restaurants, and yacht support services to guarantee the yachting event’s success.

Olivia, a yachting regatta participant from Australia, told the press of her enthusiasm at participating in the Bali sailing regatta and the access it provides to witnessing and experiencing Balinese culture. “This event is amazing; all the events prepared are enjoyable. We can see culture, art performances, and handicrafts and enjoy local music performances. I hope to return to BMTH next year,” she added.

BMTH, as one of Indonesia’s National Strategic Projects (PSN), is strategically positioned to anchor maritime tourism in Indonesia, serving as a key yacht and cruise ship destination. The maritime tourism sector’s potential to bring manifold economic impacts underscores the strategic importance of BMTH to developing Indonesian tourism.

Previously, Indonesia’s Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, proclaimed that BMTH could strengthen the national maritime and logistics economic connectivity while increasing Indonesia’s maritime capabilities as a global maritime center.

He said that “Sail to Indonesia” promotes Bali as a global tourist destination and affirms its position as a center for maritime activities.

Separately, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahudin Uno, said that BMTH is important in promoting Indonesia’s marine tourism destinations.
