Detik.com reports that Bali will host a large international airshow in September 2024.
PT Inaro Tujuh Belas will organize the Bali International Airshow in cooperation with Angkasa Pura I, the managers of Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport.
The President Director of PT Inaro Tujuh Belas, Andy Wismarsyah, told the press that Indonesia has not hosted an international airshow for almost 28 years following the end of the Indonesia Airshow last held at Jakarta’s Soekarno Hatta Airport in 1996.
Andy told the press on Tuesday, 28 November 2023: “The Bali International Airshow will be held in September 2024, working with the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment organizing committee. We are confident that 2024 is the year when this exhibition will run well and be a milestone for the first airshow after an absence of almost 28 years.”
The Bali International Airshow will showcase the aerospace, aviation, technology, and defense sectors. Preparations for the event have commenced, with supporting facilities already under construction in Bali. These preparations include the construction of hangars and preparing the Bali Airport’s southern apron as the event’s location.
Later, the location of the airshow will be headquartered at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) of Ngurah Rai Airport, using two hangars. The current one is already there, and two more hangars are being built, estimated to be completed in March 2024.
Andy Wismarsyah thanked Angkasa Pura I for their support in preparing to host the prestigious international aviation event. “We are now telling the world that Indonesia already has an airshow. That is another challenge,” he stressed.
The Bali International Airshow will be held over four days starting 18 September 2024. The event will feature fly-over displays and static displays presented by 150 participants. More than 300 companies and around 100 delegates from 35 countries are expected to attend.
The general manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Handy Heryudhitiawan, guaranteed that flight operations would continue to run normally during the event. Airport management systems would be optimized to ensure the smooth running of the event and the airport.
“We will ensure that the implementation of the event does not disrupt flight operations. This will be a good opportunity to introduce Indonesia to the world. Of course, this is a good promotional opportunity and is something we can all be proud of,” said Handy.
