Jetstar Airways – more commonly known as Jetstar, is the Australian low-cost airline based in Melbourne as the wholly-owned subsidiary of Qantas.
Jetstar will suspend its Darwin to Bali service for three weeks in October 2023 to repair and refurbish its main 11/29 3,354-meter-long runway in the Northern Territory Capital.
ABC News (Australia) has announced that the runway closure will occur from 2:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. daily, from 09 October until 28 October 2023.
The Australian Department of Defense has ordered Renovations on the runway to permit a higher frequency of flights.
Passengers booked on Jetstar flights during the two weeks are now offered rebooking on alternative dates, rerouting via other Australian gateways to Bali, or full refunds.
Jetstar is also temporarily refusing new reservations while awaiting confirmation details on maintenance plans for Darwin Airport.
Meanwhile, the Australian Airline Airnorth has elected not to cancel their Darwin flight during the three-week repair period, deciding to operate daily flights during the hours when repairs are not underway.
