The New Bali Tourism Levy of Rp. 150,0000 paid by foreign visitors starting 14 February 2024 applies with the specific exemption of seven categories of foreigners who do not need to pay the tax.
As reported by Tempo.co and the State News Agency Antara, those exempted from paying the new tax are:
- Diplomats and visas issued to foreign officials.
- Cew members traveling on airplanes, ships, and other transportation forms.
- Foreigners hold a temporary (KITAS) or permanent (KITAP) stay permit.
- Holders of family unification visas,
- Holders of student visas,
- Holders of Golden Visas
- Holders of business-specific visas.
Foreign visitors who fall under one of the seven exempted categories should submit an exemption application via the Love Bali Application, available for download online https://lovebali.baliprov.go.id/
Bali Gubernatorial Regulation No. 36 of 2023 stipulates that requests for exemptions must be submitted one month before the arrival date in Bali.
Applications will be processed in five working days.
Island visitors can pay via the application or upon arrival at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport or Benoa Cruise Terminal. Payment can also be made through conventional online travel agencies and tourist attractions.
Bali officials promise that funds generated by the new Rp. 150,000 tax levy will be allocated to cultural preservation.
