With the continuing help of COVID-19 number-cruncher Jackie Pomeroy, Bali Update is tracking the ongoing surge in coronavirus cases in Bali dating from early July.
The latest update on new cases of COVID-19 and deaths through 14 August 2021 ends on a curious note, with the number of new cases reported for the final day of the recap (14 August) showing a sudden dip. Is this the promised beginning of the turn-around and a decline in new cases, or merely a one-day statistical anomaly? The answer to this crucial question will only become apparent in our next update that will show new cases from 15 August and beyond.
Despite the yet-to-be-explained downturn on 14 August, the accompanying graphs fail to demonstrate that the intensive inoculation program and the restrictions on public activities now underway in Bali have hit the “pivot point” that will send the number of new cases and deaths in a steady southerly trend.
