Bali’s Apple Academy Opens

The long-awaited opening of an Apple Developer Academy in Tuban South Bali has taken place with the induction of 100 students in the Academy’s inaugural class.

The Academy’s opening forms part of Apple’s efforts to help developers, students, and entrepreneurs gain the necessary skills to start a career in Indonesia’s growing iOS app industry and globally.

Susan Prescott, Vice President of Worldwide Developer Relations at Apple, commenting on the newly opened Apple Academy, said: “Coding is a great way to gain recognition in the world, and the Apple Developer Academy will help more people in Indonesia realize their ideas.”

“The establishment of the Apple Academy is part of Apple’s efforts to help developers, students, and entrepreneurs gain the skills needed to start a career in the growing iOS app industry, both in Indonesia and globally.”

Prescott said, “The developer community in Indonesia has created so many amazing apps(applications), and we can’t wait to welcome these students and assist even more aspiring developers in improving their skills, building businesses, and positively impacting their communities.”

The nine-month-long Apple Developer Academy program teaches the basics of coding, design, and marketing skills and provides insights into artificial intelligence (AI). The Academy is designed to challenge and inspire students to create applications that positively impact the world and address personal, community, and global challenges.

The first class at the Apple Developer Academy Bali was filled with participants from various backgrounds, ranging in age from 18 to 56 years old, coming from 32 cities in Indonesia, many of them from Bali. Uniquely, this campus is the first Academy in Indonesia to open opportunities for international students, with participants from 11 different countries as an effort to encourage cross-cultural exchange.
