Domestic Arrivals Up as COVID-Testing Ends

Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport is reporting a 50% increase in domestic passengers following Rapid Test Antigen and PCR Swab Tests on Tuesday, 08 March 2022. 

Domestic Arrivals Increase as COVID-19 Testing Ends

As reported by NusaBali.com, the average number of arriving domestic passengers passing through Bai’s Airport in recent days is around 9,000. On Wednesday, 09 March 8.805 passengers; Thursday, 10 March 9,240 passengers; Friday, 11 March 9,945 passengers; Saturday, 12 March 9.013 passengers; and Sunday, 13 March 8.996 passengers. 

Compared to domestic passenger totals in the days before the lifting of COVID test requirements, the average was 5,000 – 6,000 passengers.

Domestic departure totals after the ending of COVID-19 testing have similarly increased: Wednesday, 09 March 2022 7,197 passengers; Thursday, 10 March 7,083 passengers; Friday, 11 March 8,132 passengers; Saturday, 12 March 8,674 passengers; and Sunday, 13 March 11,127 passengers. 

From the total number of departing domestic passengers, a part of them is tourists on holiday in Bali returning home after a short holiday in Bali.

Taufan Yudhistira, stakeholder relations manager at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport, said on Monday, 14 March 2022, “What’s clear (the totals) have increased, but they cannot be compared with the total in December 2021 and January 2022 when the numbers were high.”

In December, when the number of domestic arrivals averaged more than 10,000 each day, all domestic arrivals were required to under COVID-19 testing.
