Major Yacht Harbor For Serangan Island in Sanur, Bali

PT Bali Turtle Island Development (BTID), as the manager of the Kura-kura Bali Special Economic Zone (KEK) on Serangan Island, will start construction of an international marina in April 2025.

The Head of Communications for PT BTID, Zakki Hakim, conveyed the plans in Denpasar in response to plans to temporarily limit the sea area as construction begins at the pier.

Zakki said this international Marina will be the first to operate as a hub integrated with various Kura Kura Bali KEK facilities.

When completed, as many as 120-140 luxury cruise ships can berth at the Marina.

PT BTID has not yet projected how many workers will be absorbed by International Marina. Still, in general, the Bali Kura-Kura SEZ targets employing 30 thousand direct and 60 thousand indirect workers in 30 years.

Serangan Island – Turtle Island in Bali

The Kura-Kura Bali Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Serangan Island plans to begin building an international marina complex in April 2025, as reported by the State News Agency Antara.

The marina facility located in the lagoon at Serangan Island will accommodate 140 yachts, according to Zakki Hakim, Communication Director of PT Bali Turtle Island Development (PT BTID), on Friday, 07 March 2025.

Zakki also confirmed that the marina construction project would include supporting infrastructure, including cafes, restaurants, and shops.

Zakki described how the yacht harbor would serve as a parking and stowage facility for foreign yachts flying several foreign flags.

The new yacht basin will also form a base of operations for water sports coordinated with the Yacht Marina’s management.

Zakki expressed the concern that the heavy sea traffic resulting from a yacht marina’s operation could make swimming in the yacht basin problematic. However, Local fishermen would be given priority access to the yacht marina and the unfettered passage of their fishing vessel.

The International Yacht Marina is expected to assist small and medium-sized enterprises in Serangan Village, where locals are involved in small engine and ship repair. An immigration office will also be part of the Marina to facilitate the arrival and departure of foreign-flagged yachts.

After completion, Zakki said the new international Marina would come under the operational authority of a local Port Master (Syahbandar) reporting to the Ministry of Transportation.
