Jeju Air, Batik Air Malaysia, and Super Air Jet are establishing new routes to Indonesia.
The new routes were announced by Nia Niscaya, an expert staff of the Ministry of Tourism and the Creative Economy, during a briefing in Jakarta on Monday, 22 July 2024.
Quoted by Tempo.com, Niscaya said, “The new flights will ease access to Indonesian destinations.”
The three new airlines soon operating to and from Indonesia are:
Jeju Air : Seoul – Denpasar
The Korean Airline Jeju Air will commence daily flights between Incheon (Seoul) and Denpasar on 27 October 2024, providing an additional 180 seats each way.
Batik Air (Malaysia): Kuala Lumpur – Four Indonesian Destinations
Batik Air Malaysia will fly from Kuala Lumpur to four cities in Indonesia.
The first route will fly between Kuala Lumpur and Surabaya beginning on 01 August 2024 using Boeing 737-800 configured to carry 180 passengers operating twice daily.
The second route will fly between Kuala Lumpur and Lombok four times each week starting 01 August 2024 and will also use a Boeing 737-800. Each flight will carry 150 passengers.
The third route connects Kuala Lumpur and Padang, West Sumatra, daily. It begins operations on 10 August 2024 using a 150-seat aircraft.
The fourth Batik Air Malaysia flight starts on 10 August and will fly daily, carrying 150 passengers between Kuala Lumpur and Pekanbaru.
Super Air Jet: Kuala Lumpur – Banda Aceh
The Indonesian Super Jet will connect Kuala Lumpur and Aceh daily starting 03 August 2024 using an Airbus A-320 aircraft configured with 180 seats.
Commenting on the growing number of international flights to and from Indonesia, Nia Niscaya noted that 70% of the international tourists visiting Indonesia travel by air. She said she hopes Indonesia will achieve a targeted 9.5 to 14.3 million foreign tourists in 2024. She also noted that between January and May 2024, the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia totaled 5.24 million—that’s 36.7% of targeted visitors.
