China Southern Airlines reopened its Guangzhou – Denpasar – Guangzhou (formerly Canton) route with the landing of an aircraft in Bali on Friday, 28 April 2023.
Quoted by Beritabali.com, the general manager of Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport, Handy Heryudhitiawan, expressed his appreciation to China Southern Airways, saying, “Guangzhou, as one of the largest cities in China, this route is strategically important to Bali’s tourism sector.”
Guangzhou has a more than 15.3 million population located on the Pearl River, northwest of Hong Kong.
CZ625 – the inaugural China Southern Airlines flight from Guangzhou landed in Bali on 28 April 2023 at 10:30 pm carrying 171 passengers. The return flight CZ626, using the same Airbus A-321, departed 42 minutes after midnight on Saturday, 29 April 2023, with 265 passengers.
Handy added: “By adding the new routes to and from Guangzhou, we hope to enhance connectivity to other cities in China and, in turn, the number of passengers using Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport.”
Bali’s airport offers four flight routes on four airlines to mainland China destinations: Shanghai, Shenzen, Guangzhou, and Xiamen.
“At this time (from Bali), we operate 29 international scheduled flights flown by 35 airlines. We hope that reconnecting the Island of Bali with Guangzhou will positively impact Bali’s aviation and tourism sectors,” said Handy.
