The Director General of Immigration, Silmy Karim, reports Bali deported 378 foreigners during Q3 2024.
Silmy said the number of deportations has increased when compared to 2023.
At this point, 335 foreign nationals have been deported by the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, the Denpasar Immigration Office, Singaraja Immigration, and the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center.
According to Kompas.com, Silmy said, “During this period, the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center deported 203 persons.” The Director General also revealed that, when seen nationally, 73.64% of those undergoing any administrative measure applied by immigration over the first six months of 2024 were undertaken in connection with the deportation of foreign visitors.
This total represents an increase of 135.21% compared to the first semester of 2023, when 639 people were deported.
“The increased mobility of foreigners must be met with increased awareness and surveillance of their activities,” said Silmmy.
In May of 2024, the Director General of Immigration conducted “Operation Jagratara,” which resulted in the apprehension of 914 foreign nationals and 1,293 foreigners in July.
In June 2024, a separate operation in Bali (“Bali Becik”) apprehended 103 foreigners who authorities said were part of an international cyber-crime syndicate.
Commenting on the continuing program of arrests, Silmy commented: “I never tire of appealing to the immigration officials at both the central and regional levels to act responsively to any potential foreign interference that arises.
To create a deterrent effect and maintain the dignity of the Indonesian government, immigration officers throughout Indonesia conduct surveillance both incidentally and periodically, in urban areas and at the borders.” Adding: Where foreign nationals are violating the rules, we will take action,”
