CNTraveler Lists 15 Best Bali Hotels

CNTraveler –  the website of Condé Nast Traveller, has published its list of the 15 best Bali hotels among the many hotels that provide nearly 19,000 five-star hotels to the Island’s visitors.

Kompas.com reported that the CNTraveler List of Best Hotels in Bali was compiled based on surveys and direct inspections of top-end properties on the Island. 

CNTravel’s 2024 list of the “15 best” hotels in Bali:

1. Bvlgari Resort Bali.  

The Bvlgari Resort Bali offers 59 private pool villas designed with prominent Balinese design and architectural accents built with dark basal stone. The Resort boasts panoramic views of the Indian Ocean and one of Bali’s best fine dining venues – Il Ristorante by Luca Fantin. Also offered by the resort is a main infinity pool and a luxury spa. 

2. Anantara Ubud Bali Resort.  

This Resort seeks to provide a “spiritual hill-top experience” via 86 suites and villas highlighted by Hindu-Bali design elements and the abundant use of traditional Javanese relief carvings. Spiritual cleansing rituals are offered at a nearby local natural spring.

3. Further Hotel in Pererenan.

The Further Hotel is located on Jalan Pantai Pererenan No. 84 at Pererenan Village and promotes itself as a successful blend of the traditional with modern contemporary elements. The Hotel’s suites feature wrap-around balconies that also function as an alfresco bath area. Specialties of this property include its picnic basket breakfast presentation, and the availability of jazz music piped into every room. 

4. Raffles Bali. Dramatically positioned at  Jalan Karang Mas Sejahtera No.1A, Jimbaran. Built on a gradual seaside slope that meets the waters of Jimbaran Bay, this luxury property provides 32 ultra-private villas spread across a 23-hectare land area that surrenders 70% of the land to rolling gardens. Villas offer private pools supported by a resort spa and the Rumari Restaurant, which specializes in Balinese cuisine. Mirroring the flagship Raffles Hotel in Singapore, Raffles Bali features an enchanting Writers Bar – providing views towards the setting sun. 

5. Nirjhara Retreat, Tabanan.

Nirjhara Retreat is an ecological resort with a Balinese-inspired design surrounded by rice fields and jungle. A “Tree House Villa” is guests’ favorite, affording spectacular panoramic views of nature. The hotel facilities include an infinity pool.

6. The Laguna Resort and Spa, Nusa Dua Hotel – Bali.

The Laguna Resort and Spa offers 287 rooms, 19 suites, and 11 villas. The property has seven lagoon pools, round-the-clock on-site buggy service, and the Arwana award-winning restaurant. The Hotel presents cultural programs every Thursday evening. 

7. COMO Uma Ubud.

Located on Jalan Raya Sanggingan in Ubud, Bali, COMO Uma Ubud offers excellent value and bespoke tropical relaxation. A short distance from Ubud’s town center, this Resort features luxury villas with private pools supplemented by a huge public pool. The COMO Uma Ubud offers a yoga pavilion, bicycle tours through the surrounding rice fields, and climbing expeditions to Mount Batur. The Resort’s restaurant specializes in Mediterranean and local cuisine. 

8. Mandapa, Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Ubud.

Located on Jalan Raya Kedewatan in Ubud, Bali, The Mandapa offers a peaceful luxury-in-nature experience in central Bali. Set amidst a beautiful Balinese jungle backdrop, this award-winning resort comprises villas and thatched accommodation equipped with private plunge pools. The resort has an outstanding restaurant that serves both Indonesian and international cuisine. Local activities include whitewater rafting and programs exploring local culture. 

9. Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape, Ubud.

Located on Jalan Buahan Kaja in Payangan, Ubud, Bali, Buahan is a luxury resort constructed with “no walls, no doors,” encouraging guests to immerse themselves in nature. With only 16 villas and pavilions, this Resort is enveloped by a tropical jungle and rice fields. The Resort’s restaurant – “The Open Kitchen,” prioritizes the use of local products.

10. The Slow, Canggu.  

Located on Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong No.97, in Canggu, The Slow is a boutique hotel incorporating a modem design inspired by art and music.  Every room has stunning “mid-20th century” furniture. The restaurant at The Slow presents both local and international dishes. On sale at the Resort is a range of designer items. 

11. Capella Ubud.

Capella Ubud is located on Jalan RY Dalem, Keliki, Tegallalang, on the northern outskirts of Ubud, Bali. This outstanding resort offers the unique opportunity to stay in a luxury tent located in the middle of a jungle. Each tented suite has a private dip pool situated on the surrounding balcony. The accommodation’s interiors can best be described as eccentric, drawing its inspiration from the adventures of early European explorers. Guests can also partake in excellent cuisine at Capella’s restaurant and experience several cultural activities the Resort provides.

12. Amankila, Manggis.

This Resort overlooking the Indian Ocean is situated on Jalan Raya Manggis and built on terraced ledges, providing views of the Indian Ocean and the Lombok Straits from any of the Resort’s three swimming pools. Spacious villas following the classic Bali-style design pioneered by the legendary Ed Tuttle, the Amankila has a private beach club down on the shore and three public pools. Breakfast is served in the privacy of a villa or the bale puncak bukit overlooking the Resort. 

13. Hoshinoya Bali, Ubud. 

Hoshinoya Bali is situated on Jalan Raya Manggis, Manggis, Ubud, Bali. Hoshinoya Bali blends traditional Balinese elements with an elegant Japanese building design. Exemplifying a connection with local culture, each villa overlooks a traditional “subak” irrigation canal. A large, meandering swimming pool surrounds the accommodation villas. Food and beverages on offer reflect Japanese and Indonesian specialties. Guests can join a primer on matcha tea preparation or making batik. 

14. Potato Head Suites and Resort, Seminyak.

Located on Jalan Petitenget No.51B in Seminyak, Bali, Potato Head Suites prides itself on being environmentally friendly and a sustainable tourism product. Potato Head Suites and Resort provides a complete range of hotel services and direct access to the Potato Head Beach Club. This modern and innovatively designed Hotel offers unique facilities such as a “jamu” bar and fitness center.

15. Lost Lindenberg, Pekutatan.

Located in Banyar Yeh Kuning, Jalan Ngurah Rai, Pekutatan, Bali, Lost Lindenberg is a boutique hotel that offers a communal living experience. Rooms have ceiling-high windows with views of the adjacent Indian Ocean. Meal menus, based on fruits and vegetables, are presented on a “communal” long table” to be enjoyed with fellow guests.
