The Indonesian government has released the 2027 schedule of national holidays and collective shared holidays. The schedule shown is based on the Joint Decree (SKB) issued by the Minister of Religious Affairs, the Minister of Manpower, and the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN RB) (respectively, Joint Decree Numbers 1205 of 2026, 3 of 2026, and 2 of 2026) regarding National Holidays and Shared Collective Holidays for 2027.
Hari Nyepi – Bali’s sacred holiday of mandated absolute silence (08 March 2027) is also a nationwide Indonesian public holiday.
The listing below also includes the Balinese high holy days of “Hari Galungan” and “Hari Kuningan,” which are invariably observed as holidays on the Island of Bali. Both these days are acknowledged as “official holidays” in Bali, with many businesses closed. Typically, “Hari Galungan” stretches into a four-day observance, with “Penyajaan Galungan” and “Penampahan Galungan” held, respectively, two and one day before “Hari Galungan.” Most Balinese also celebrate the day immediately after “Hari Galungan,” known “Manis Galungan,” as a holiday.
Ten days after “Hari Galungan” is the official Balinese holiday of “Hari Kuningan.” The day immediately preceding “Hari Kuningan” is “Penampahan Kuningan” usually observed as part of the “Hari Kuningan” holiday observance.
Based on the Central Government’s joint national decrees, Indonesia has 18 national holidays and 8 days of collective shared holidays in 2027. “Hari Galungan” and “Hari Kuningan” are two official holidays celebrated only in Bali and occur twice in 2027 (January and December).
