The long-awaited “Best of the Best” global ranking of various parts of international travel has been published by Tripadvisor. Also known as “The Travelers’ Choice Awards,” it ranks travel providers based on feedback for “real travelers” who visit the Tripadvisor.com website.
The award ranking survey has been in operation since 2002. It is derived from “millions of reviews and opinions” from global travelers covering service, quality, and customer satisfaction for hotels, accommodation providers, destinations, attractions, restaurants, and travel experiences.
Final rankings are based on proprietary algorithms. The quality, quantity, and recency of reviews and opinions over 12 months from the estimated 463 million annual unique visitors to the Tripadvisor travel platform are used in compiling the annual ranking of the “best of the best.”
The Island of Bali and many of the Island’s tourism operations have managed to prevail during the continuing global pandemic, receiving numerous mentions in the 2021 Tripadvisor Readers’ Choice Awards.
Bali – The World’s Best Destination
Warranting mention from the survey before all others is Bali’s reappearance as #1 in this year’s list of the “World’s Top Destinations.” Praising the Island’s beaches, diving, hotels, and cultural heritage, Bali top ranking was followed by London at #2 and Dubai, UAE at #3
Top 25 Hotels Worldwide
In listing the 25 hotels considered the very best in the world, Bali secures two hard-won top rankings:
- Mandapa – A Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Kedewatan, Gianyar, Bali, was ranked #6.

Tripadvisor listed its reader surveyed list of the top 25 Hottest New Hotels globally that included two Bali Properties:
