Bali’s COVID Numbers Going the Wrong Way!

Jackie Pomeroy, who religiously compiles daily updates on the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, assists Bali Update and Balidiscovery.com in tracking the rate of new infections on the Island. She continued to collect valuable data on the developing face of new infections Bali-wide from 01 May 2021 through 24 July 2021.

Unfortunately, the accompanying resulting illustrative graphs show an escalating epidemic demonstrate scant ameliorative effects of the government’s restrictions on public movements and community-wide immunization programs against COVID-19.

For the second time, Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo extended the PPKM Lockdown period to remain in force until 02 August. Officials in Bali and Jakarta have said that any eventual decision to end or ease the continuing lockdown will be predicated on the availability of beds in hospitals available to COVID-19 patients, the ability of local officials to achieve high levels of community vaccination, and if the number of new infections indicating signs of abating.
