NusaBali reports that Badung Regency’s Free Wi-Fi Service now extends to include some 30 new hot spots at beaches, markets, and public spaces. The Badung Regency Government, through the Badung Communication and Informatics Office (Diskominfo), has added these 30 Badung Free Wi-Fi Access Points (APs) across six districts of the Regency.
Badung Regency intends to meet the communication needs of residents and visiting tourists by providing free internet services in public spaces. The Head of the Badung Regency Communication and Informatics Office, I Ketut Gede Arta, stated that this network expansion is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen digital transformation, improve public services, support tourism, and facilitate community activities.
According to Arta, the additional APs are driven by the public’s desire for broader free internet coverage, especially in community centers and tourist destinations. Surveys and evaluation studies also indicated the need to improve connection quality and stability in several locations demonstrating high usage levels.

”With the addition of these access points, it is hoped that Badung Free Wi-Fi’s signal coverage will expand, the connection quality will improve, and the WiFi service will be able to reach underserved crowded areas, while also increasing the satisfaction of residents and tourists who use the service,” said Arta on Tuesday, 20 June 2026.
The regency’s chief communications officer stated that six access points will be installed in Kuta District, namely: Jerman Beach, Kuta Beach, Skate Park Kuta, Seminyak Beach, Kedonganan Beach, and Legian Beach.
In North Kuta, four new points will be added: Batu Bolong Beach, Petitenget Beach, Purna Krida Sports Center, and Dalung Sports Center. Meanwhile, South Kuta District will receive five new hot spots: Samuh Beach, Labuan Sait Beach, Pandawa Beach, Tanjung Benoa Beach, and Pecatu Beach.
In Mengwi District, six new APs will be installed at Seseh Beach, Beringkit Market, Munggu Beach, Pererenan Beach, Mengwi Field, and Wantilan Kapal. Abiansemal District will receive six new Aps at Tirta Arum, Alas Pala Sangeh, Mumbul Park, Jagapati Market, Blahkiuh Market, and Sibang Gede Market.
Finally, Petang District will receive three new APs at Tukad Bangkung, Goa Gong Waterfall, and Nungnung Waterfall.
Gede Arta added that, in addition to expanding the network, the Badung Communications and Informatics Office will install informational signage at each Badung Free Wi-Fi Hot Spot. If service disruptions occur, the public can report any problems through the “Contact the Regent” channels for immediate follow-up by the Communications and Informatics Office team. These steps are expected to make it easier for the public and tourists to find free Wi-Fi, thereby increasing its use.
”Currently, the Badung Free Wi-Fi service is available at around 1,100 points spread across Badung Regency. The network covers government offices and public services, educational institutions, village halls (Balai Banjar), tourist areas and destinations, and various strategic locations that serve as centers of community activity,” Arta explained.
In the lead-up to the commissioning of the new APs, the Badung Communications and Information Office conducted a trial or “proof of concept (POC)” test at Wantilan Kapal, Samuh Beach, and Skate Park Kuta. This trial was to evaluate signal coverage and service quality.
The evaluation results showed an increase in usage of the Badung Free Wi-Fi Service at these three locations. The number of devices connected to the network also increased, even after adding new APs.
”This indicates that the network expansion is effective in increasing free internet access for residents and tourists in Badung Regency,” Arta said.
