BeritaBali reports that an arriving Indian traveler, identified only by the initials of AR (28), has been arrested at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport, suspected of being involved in the act of smuggling 10 kilograms of marijuana into Indonesia.
The marijuana was discovered during customs and excise inspection, placed in two suitcases by AR on Monday, 03 August 2026, after the Indian had arrived from Singapore on a Scoot Airline flight TR 280 that landed at 11:30 am.
Routine X-ray scanning of two bags revealed suspicious organic material that, upon closer examination, proved to be 14 boxes containing some 10 kilograms of marijuana.

During interrogation, AR, who hails from Andhra Pradesh in India, admitted to obtaining the marijuana in Thailand before traveling to Bali via Singapore.
Police continue to investigate the case in an effort to determine if other parties are involved in the transnational marijuana smuggling attempt. Investigators are also conducting forensic laboratory testing on the confiscated drugs to track the drugs’ actual origin.
