BeritaBali reports that the stabbing case involving a hotel employee in Pejarakan Village, Buleleng Regency—perpetrated by a British national, Aaron Mitchell (29)—is now entering its trial phase at the Singaraja District Court.
The initial hearing for Aaron was held on August 12, 2026, during which the British national heard the formal reading of the criminal indictment against him by the State Prosecutors. The case is presided over by a panel of judges led by Yakobus Manu, alongside member judges David Nainggolan and Ricky Indra Yohanis.
Singaraja District Court Spokesperson I Gusti Made Juliartawan stated that the next hearing is scheduled for August 26, 2026.
”The first hearing for the reading of the indictment took place on 12 August 2026. The next hearing is on 26 August 2026, when the defendant’s response to the indictment will be heard,” said Juliartawan on Thursday, 20 August 2026.
First Inspector (Iptu) Ketut Yulio Saputra, Head of the General Crimes Unit for the Buleleng Police Precinct, stated that Aaron is charged under Article 466 Paragraph (2) and/or Article 307 Paragraph (1) of the New Criminal Code (KUHP). These sections of the criminal code cover assault resulting in serious injury, carrying a maximum penalty of five years in prison, while Article 307 Paragraph (1) covers the possession and use of sharp weapons, carrying a maximum penalty of seven years in prison. This suggests that Prosecutors could request a sentence of 12 years’ imprisonment for Aaron.
The incident at the center of the criminal charges that led to Aaron facing trial occurred on 05 May 2026, at approximately 8:05 PM at the Menjangan Dynasty Resort in Pejarakan Village, North Bali.
At the time, Aaron arrived at the hotel and was approached by a front-office employee who asked him about the purpose of his visit. The two then became involved in an altercation. CCTV footage shows Aaron attacking the hotel worker with a knife, resulting in a laceration to the victim’s left temple.
After the attack, Aaron fled the scene in a white Suzuki Fronx. Police pursued him as far as the Gilimanuk area in Jembrana Regency, where he was eventually arrested at 11:37 pm.
At the time of his arrest, Aaron was intoxicated. Police detected the smell of alcohol on the defendant at the time of his arrest and were initially unable to interrogate the man, who was found incoherent.
During the investigation, police secured several pieces of evidence related to the case. One item was a stainless-steel knife, approximately 30 centimeters long, bearing traces of the victim’s blood.
