Hyatt Hotels Indonesia has announced the appointment of Rene Mayer as the Cluster Director of Sales & Marketing for their three hotels in Bali. In this role, Rene will oversee all commercial promotion aspects for Grand Hyatt Bali, Hyatt Regency Bali, and Andaz Bali, reporting to each property’s general managers.
Rene commenced his hospitality industry career at the tender age of 17, working in hotel and event management roles in Germany before accepting an Event Manager’s assignment with Trader Vic’s in San Francisco, California. He returned to Europe in 2003 to assume sales roles with the InterContinental Hotels Group and Starwood Hotels. In 2009, he joined Austrian-based Vienna Hotelmanagement AG as Director of Global Sales.
Mayer’s professional sojourn in Asia started in Hanoi as Director of Sales & Marketing for the Sofitel Plaza in Hanoi, shifting to Taipei in 2012 to become global director of sales for Regent Hotels & Resorts. This was followed by five years working in lead marketing and sales jobs with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in Bali and Jakarta.
Rene joined Hyatt Hotels in 2019 as the Director of Sales and Marketing for Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi & Residences Emirates Pearl. He was summoned back to Indonesia to become Cluster Sales and Marketing Director for three Hyatt hotels in Bali, including the opening of the new Andaz Bali hotel located immediately adjacent
While working in Indonesia, Mayer received several international awards for marketing and sales.
Commenting on his new assignment with Hyatt in Bali, Mayer said, “I am blessed to have been transferred back to Bali and to be able to call this island my home again.” Adding: “I am looking forward to working together with my associates and partners alike. I am also excited to work on rebuilding the business post-COVID for these three properties, each with its own unique characteristics.”

Rene Mayer replaced Hyatt Veteran Ronald Nomura, who has retired after 15 years in Bali with Hyatt Hotels.
