Visa-on-Arrival Now Available to 42 Countries

Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, announced the number of nationalities entitled to obtain a visa-on-arrival (VOA) when landing at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport has been increased from 23 to 42 countries.

Professor Dr. Widodo Ekatjjahjana SH, the Director-General of Immigration, issued the authorizing circular memorandum on behalf of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, on Monday, 21 March, with effect the following day (Circular Memorandum Number IMI-0532.GR.01.01 of 2022).

Reacting to the announcement, the head of the Bali Office of the Ministry, Jamaruli Manihuruk, said the staffing and supervision of the immigration counters at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport would be augmented to handle an anticipated increase in international visitors.

The Visa-on-arrival (VOA) is available to citizens of the 42 selected countries who arrive with a passport with at least six months remaining validity and pass a COVID-19 screening test upon arrival. The cost of the VOA is Rp. 500,000 (US$35) and is valid for 30 days, and can be extended for an additional 30 days after arrival.

Sandiaga Uno said that Indonesia remains steadfast in attaining its goal of 1.8 million – 3.6 million international tourist visitors for 2022. Sandiaga believes that the steadily increasing relaxation of travel restrictions makes that goal still achievable.

Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, the Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investments, who also serves as the COVID-19 Czar, confirmed separately that the government would move forward with eliminating quarantine requirements providing arriving international travelers undergo a PCR test upon arrival in Indonesia.

The 42 countries that to be imminently included eligible for a visa-on-arrival in Indonesia are:
